Giving Back To Our Community

At NETS, we are a Community Interest Company. As such, we have a vested interest in supporting the local community and helping to provide quality services, by providing free and accessible courses and training for people throughout the Tees Valley area.

We hope our courses help foster a sense of community and allow our learners to develop new skills and forge new connections with their peers.

Community Hubs

Without the community centres and hubs that host us, our courses would not be possible. We want to draw attention to these spaces as they rely on the support and participation of their local community to run high-quality courses and services. Carbon Emissions

NETS is committed to helping reduce carbon emissions in the Tees Valley area. We provide our learners with free group transport from Middlesbrough town centre to our training suite, aiming to incentivise the use of public transport over individual vehicles for members of our NETS community and making our training services more accessible for those without cars.

Sustainability

We also aim to promote sustainable practices throughout our courses. We aim to limit the amount of paper waste created on our courses by using recycled paper for all our printing and workbooks. Our sustainable practice extends to our craft courses where the upcycling of materials is incorporated - we are doing our part to reduce textile waste's contribution to landfill.

Equality and Diversity

As we work throughout the Tees Valley, we provide services to a diverse range of people. Our staff treat everyone with respect and expect the same from our learners. As our teams and tutors have experience working with people who are ESL, as well as those with learning difficulties, we aim to provide extra support to any learners who need it.

Mental Health

Here at NETS, mental health awareness and advocacy are key focuses of our team.

We aim to promote mindfulness and healthy creative outlets through the availability of our community-focused craft courses.

Our socially driven courses allow our learners to forge new friendships in the community and help lessen feelings of isolation.
